Everest Base Camp Trekking is an incredible experience introducing you to an amazing view of the highest mountain in the Himalaya, where being able to stand on the top of the world has for centuries been one of man's most daring challenges. Since Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay conquered the summit in 1953, many have visited `The Land of the Sherpa' to wonder at this achievement, making it one of the most popular trekking destinations in the world today.

The Everest Base Camp Trek is located amidst some of the most spectacular scenery to be found on the continent and it is not for the faint-hearted. The trek starts from Jiri, Shivalaya or the Sherpa village of Lukla, and uses the traditional expedition route to Khumbu, the capital of the region. The route then continues along the Imja Khola River to the valley below Everest. From there the trek continues on the original route taken by the first expedition to climb Everest until reaching your final destination: Everest Base Camp.

The Everest Base Camp Trek passes through a collection of small villages, allowing you to get a feel for the region and its peoples. The photographic opportunities are limitless thus enabling you to capture and relive your experience upon your return home. Inspiring views include: Khumbu Glacier, Everest and Nuptse, alpine scrub and junipers of the Sherpa region, and the pine forests and rhododendron flowers of the valleys.

We always plan our Everest Base Camp Trek to allow enough time to ascend Kalapattar, the primary viewing point for Everest. The trek also includes a day to complete the amazing hike to the Khumbu Glacier, home of Everest Base Camp and the icefall. Most of our clients would agree that this is the highlight of their experience and an essential component to the trek. This trek can be done throughout the year and arranging your trip through Nepal Hiking Team will ensure a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Gosaikunda lies north of Kathmandu. The Gosaikunda loop is quite remote and thinly populated area. Gosaikunda, a glacier lake, is the most famous one with several others glacier lakes adjoining it. Thousands of Hindu pilgrims visit the lakes during a full- moon festival in August and Hindu people believe that the god Mahadev (Shiva), intoxicated by grief due to his wife’s (Pārbati) death, felt thirsty so he hit the stone with his holy stick, thus creating the lakes. In the same place Lake Gosaikunda originates and Hindu people believe that the image of Mahadev can be seen in the middle surface of the water. The lake is also scared to Buddhists.

This is a journey with numerous highlights, stunning views of Ganesh Himal, Manaslu and Annapurna massif as far as you can see. The Tamang and Sherpa people living here, physically and culturally resemble the Tibet inhabitants and their unique lifestyle is still thriving under their traditional attitude. Abundant wildlife, intense forest teaming with wild flowers and animal species, adds interest to this trek for nature lovers.
